
Thomas Jeffrey Hanks, born July 9, 1956, is an American actor. Popular for his comedic and dramatic performances, he is considered to be one of the most admired and well-known film actors worldwide, and is regarded as an American famous cultural icon. Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was the son of Janet Marylyn, a hospital worker, as well as Amos Mefford Hanks (an itinerant chef). His mother was named "Fraga" while his father was English. Tom was born into the family of a "fractured family". He was not an actor in college, and credits his inability be cast in a college production as the reason for his beginning career.
